Introduction
The Youth Voice Executive Committee is a space for young people aged 11-19, and up to 25 if they have a Special Educational Need or Disability, to speak about issues that are important for young people. Our meetings and activities give young people the opportunity to bring attention to topics that matter to young people in Bucks.

Every year, the facilitators and members of the Youth Voice Executive Committee plan a Summer Social packed with fun activities, and this time we decided to head to Oxford!
The Summer Social is important to the committee for many reasons. Going on a trip together helps us build closer friendships and get to know each other in a laid-back setting, outside of formal meetings. It’s also a great way to celebrate and appreciate everyone’s hard work in volunteering. Plus, exploring a new city gives the group fresh experiences and perspectives.
What activities did we do?
On Thursday the 25th of July, we travelled to Oxford via minibus for the Youth Voice Executive Committee Summer Social 2024!
Once we got there, most of us tried our hand at punting on the River Cherwell, it was very fun and no one fell in but some of us did get a bit lost! Whilst we did this, those who wanted a bit of a calmer, less wet morning explored a local cafe. Next, we all reunited and went to have lunch at the Cozy Club restaurant which was very fancy and held our elections for Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer.
To end our day, we split off into groups and went shopping in the city where we were treated to a sweet treat of our choosing by the Youth Voice Executive Committee before travelling back home by minibus.
“As my first summer social, I thought it was a really valuable way to bond with the team, push our limits and most importantly have fun!”
“I loved pretty much everything about the whole day, the weather may not have been ideal but I think it was very well planned out and the punting was a lovely experience”
“I really enjoyed it, it was nice to have a day getting to know each other better… I liked the food as well!“
What was the best part of the day?
Getting to know each other better outside of our Youth Voice Executive meetings, bond as a team over team building activities, push our limits and most importantly have fun!
