Bucks Youth Summit 2024 – The Corner for Creative Thinking
Introduction
- The Corner for Creative Thinking took place on the Main Stage in The Waterside’s auditorium.
- It was hosted by Young Creative Bucks. Young Creative Bucks works collaboratively to improve young people’s access to arts, heritage and cultural opportunities.
- 78 young people took part in The Creative Corner.
- The other facilitators in the space were:
- Elle from the Wycombe Swan Theatre
- Rap artist Capo
- Digital artist Elly
- Videographer Kirsten
Format
Upon arriving in the space, young people were invited to choose to go to the visual station or the rapping station.
These stations explored these two big questions:
- What stops young people from taking part in something creative?
- What would make young people feel more comfortable to show their creativity?
The project – in photos
At the visual station, young people shared ideas on coloured cards which were then pegged to a washing line.
At the rap station, young people created lyrics with rap artist Capo.
Artist Elly Bazigos captured the conversations in digital art.
The digital art created by Elly was projected on the big screen in the auditorium during the Summit.
After the Summit, the ideas gathered on the coloured cards were made into a collage.
Young participants in The Creative Corner were invited to sign up to a follow-on session. This took place in a studio and weaved together the art, rap lyrics, and video footage into the video below.
