SEND Young Inspectors

As a SEND Young Inspector, you’ll be part of a team to give feedback to activities and services to make things more inclusive in Buckinghamshire!

This has been asked for by young people, to help more young people take part in activities, as we know that sometimes, many young people with SEND can struggle to feel included.

Through your inspection, you (with the help of Rob and the team) will give managers and staff feedback and ideas on how to make spaces more SEND friendly, so that you and your friends can feel more included in more activities.

What you’ll do:

• Meet with Rob & Sam (on the phone, online or in person) and we can talk to you about the inspection and answer any questions.
• Visit the space, take part in the activity, and look around it.
• Complete our feedback form (insert link) with the help of Rob.
• Once you’ve finished, write up a short summary of your experience, what your thoughts are, thinking about what works well for people with SEND, and what could be improved.

What do I need to look out for?

Here are just some ideas of things you could look out for on an inspection:
• The environment – How loud, hot or busy things are?
• Physical access – How accessible is the activity for someone with a physical disability?
• How are the staff – Do they need to know more on how to support young people with SEND?
• Signage – Do the signs help you find your way around the space?
• Leaflets & info – Is the information easy to access?
