Young Lives vs Cancer

Would you like to join the Young lives vs Cancer Voice?

Young Lives Vs Cancer are a charity that helps children and young people (aged 0 to 25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.

Young Lives Vs Cancer’s Voice opportunities are for young people aged 16+ and parents who have lived experience of childhood / young adult cancer.
These opportunities help ensure that everything Young Lives Vs Cancer does as a charity is informed by the lived experience of those they support.

Young Lives Vs Cancer’s Voice Board is a team made up of young adults who have experienced or had a cancer diagnosis and/or their family members. They help make things better for the patients/young adults through cancer treatment and after.

The mission for Voice is to empower and elevate the voices of children, young people, and families with lived experience of cancer, ensuring their experiences and insights shape services and policy calls for system change. They collaborate with others across the children and young people’s cancer sector to ensure their unique needs are understood, supported, and that they feel empowered by the systems and organisations around them, creating meaningful change for all living with, or after cancer.

There are two ways of getting involved with Voice:

Voice Board

The Voice Board helps Young Lives vs Cancer’s Trustees and Directors to make decisions about the charity, ensuring the voices of children, young people and their parents with lived experience of cancer are at the heart of everything they do. They meet regularly and are a part of their governance. Applications for these roles open each summer for young people, siblings and parents/carers aged 16+

Voice Hub

The Voice Hub is how they bring together different opportunities to get involved in their work across the organisation and within the wider cancer system. Joining the hub involves receiving a monthly email outlining the current voice opportunities, sharing updates on their voice work and as the hub develops they will also be creating training opportunities. The hub is for anyone with lived experience of cancer either as a young person, parent/carer, sibling or partner aged 16+
