Great British Spring Clean

The Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. Each year, more than 400,000 volunteers clear litter from our streets, parks and beaches.

Love Where You Live

The Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign. Since 2016, our army of millions of amazing Litter Heroes has shown they love where they live by pledging to pick more than 4.5 million bags of litter.

The Great British Spring Clean and Great Big School Clean are back for 2026 and will take place from 13 to 29 March 2026.

Each year Buckinghamshire Council supports this campaign from Keep Britain Tidy, which is the country’s biggest mass action environmental campaign, and last year was a record-breaking year for Bucks, seeing:

  • over 160 organised litter picking events in the county
  • more than 1,622 volunteers taking part
  • over 3,887 bags of litter collected
  • and over 4,055 volunteer hours clocked.

This year the theme is ‘Love Where You Live’, with a strengthened focus on helping to clean up the places and spaces we care most about, and you can take part!

Whether it’s with friends, family or even colleagues, the Great British Spring Clean is the perfect time to organise or join a local litter pick and help keen our county clean and green. The county belongs to everyone who lives and works here and we’re hoping to encourage even more volunteers than last year to take part in 2026.
