On 25th August 2026, We Do Care proudly hosted Buckinghamshire’s Children in Care Celebration Day at Thomley Activity Centre, in partnership with Inspire Bucks, HAF and Families First.
This year’s event once again had a Summer Festival theme, bringing together care-experienced children and young people, their foster families, friends and keyworkers for a fantastic day out.
The event was a huge success with around 300 people attending. This included 74 care-experienced children and young people alongside their guests of fostering families, friends, keyworkers and family members.
The site was buzzing with activity from start to finish. The inflatable assault course and human football, hosted by Events Up Front, proved a huge hit, while an army of incredible volunteers ran a jam-packed programme of activities including nails, beauty and hair braiding, tattoos, sumo suits, and sports and field games — we can’t thank them enough for their energy and enthusiasm throughout the day.
There was plenty more to explore too, with trampolines, a bouncy bed, zip line, football darts and an inflatable slide keeping everyone on the move. Younger children and babies had their own dedicated soft play and baby space, while a Teen Hangout space gave older young people somewhere to relax and socialise.
All That Glitters brought their face painting to the festival, adding a splash of colour throughout the day, and DJ Frank kept the festival spirit alive with music across the site. Candy floss, hosted by Thomley, was — as ever — a firm favourite.
We Do Care on Sea brought a taste of the seaside to the celebrations, food was provided by Lush Food Catering and Loraso Ice Cream, and a mocktail bar served up refreshing drinks made with products kindly donated by Waitrose.
